Air Ratchet Wrenches

Air ratchet wrenches use compressed air to generate torque, offering fast and efficient tightening or loosening of bolts and nuts in tight or confined spaces. These tools combine the convenience of a traditional ratchet with the power of an air motor, making them ideal for automotive repair, maintenance workshops, and industrial assembly. Unlike impact wrenches, they deliver controlled torque without applying excessive force, reducing the risk of damaging delicate fasteners. Lightweight and compact, air ratchets help speed up repetitive threading tasks while keeping user fatigue to a minimum.

Air ratchet Key Features

Compact & Lightweight Design

Air ratchet wrenches are designed to be small and lightweight, making them ideal for working in tight spaces where a standard wrench cannot fit. Their compact size improves manoeuvrability and reduces user fatigue.

Good Torque Output

Many air ratchets deliver sufficient torque for loosening and tightening bolts on automotive or light industrial applications. Torque levels vary by model, but they are generally effective for medium-duty fastening tasks.

Forward/Reverse Control

Most air ratchets feature an easy-to-use forward/reverse mechanism, allowing quick changes in rotation direction. This enables faster operation when switching between tightening and loosening bolts.

360° Adjustable Exhaust

Some air ratchets include a 360-degree adjustable exhaust, directing airflow away from the user. This helps keep the workspace cleaner and improves user comfort during extended use.

Durable Construction

Professional-grade air ratchets often feature metal gearing and sturdy housings to withstand repeated use. While designs vary, the durable construction ensures long-lasting performance under normal operating conditions.

FAQS

What air pressure should I use with an air ratchet wrench?

Use clean, dry compressed air at around 90 psi (6.2 bar) — this is the recommended working pressure for many air ratchets.

Do I need to lubricate my Air Ratchet, and how often?

Yes—it’s important to add a few drops of quality spindle oil into the air inlet before operation and regularly during use to prolong tool life and prevent internal wear.

What kind of Air Hose should I use with my Ratchet?

Use a properly sized hose, typically 3/8″ internal diameter, and make sure it’s long enough but not excessively long—hoses over ~8 metres can cause pressure drop.
Also, it’s good practice to include a moisture separator, regulator, and lubricator in your air supply line.

Is it dangerous to run an Air Ratchet without a load (free running)?

Yes — extended free running (running with no torque applied) can shorten the tool’s life. For example, some manufacturers warn against letting the tool run freely for long periods.
