FAQs

Should I be using angled or straight finishing nails?

First and foremost, you need to ensure that the 2nd fix nails you buy are compatible with the magazine of the nailer you are using. Otherwise, angled nails and nailers are better suited to get into tighter spaces such as corners due to the configuration of the nailer. Angled nail magazines also tend to be hold more nails due to the diagonal way in which the nails are stacked.

What’s the difference between steel and galvanised 2nd fix nails?

Stainless steel provides more protection against corrosive factors which may also include the type of wood being used as well as the environment. For example, oak and cedar timbers can be more corrosive than more commonly used softwoods. However since most applications will be indoors, where direct exposure to the elements isn’t a factor, and softwoods will more commonly be used, galvanised nails are a much more cost-effective option. In general, galvanised 2nd fix nails will come in a wider range of sizes also, allowing for use in a wider selection of applications.
