Popular types of electric sanders
Orbital sanders
Our selection of orbital sanders are lightweight and easy-to-use power tools that can be used to smooth and prep surfaces. As the name suggests, they use a circular motion to sand the material that you’re working with, resulting in an extremely even finish. Orbital sanders can be used for a wide range of tasks such as prepping surfaces by removing paint, varnish, and uneven plaster, smoothing out flooring, smoothing furniture surfaces and more. Their compact designs allow for easy storage and transportation, making them a great option for trade professionals.
Belt sanders
Belt sanders use a continuous loop of sandpaper to remove large amounts of material quickly. They are a great option for sanding large, flat, rough surfaces when the finish isn’t an important factor. In contrast, orbital sanders are designed for lighter sanding tasks, such as smoothing out surfaces and are considered less aggressive than belt sanders. Belt sanders are the tool of choice when you want to remove lots of material with minimal effort.
Features
Some features to look out for in our range of electric sanders include:
Dust collection
Our selection of electric sanders that feature dust collection functionality allowing users to keep their work area free of dust and debris generated during sanding, resulting in improved visibility along with the need for less clean-up once the job is done. Another secondary benefit of dust collection is that it can help prolong the life of your sander by preventing excess dust and debris from entering the motor and damaging it. These electric sanders can be used with dust collection bags and are also integrated with compatible dust extraction units.
Brushless motors
These electric sanders can make light work of a wide range of sanding and finishing tasks. Brushless motors offer outstanding torque to weight ratios and increased efficiency, producing more torque per watt. They also have increased reliability, longer lifespan due to the elimination of brush and commutator erosion, and require less maintenance compared to brushed models. If you plan on using your electric sander on a regular basis, or just want your tool to last a good number of years, it’s worth opting for a model that features a brushless motor.

FAQs
How do I pick between an orbit sander and a belt sander?
To help decide which type of sander is better for you, consider what you will be using the tool for. In general, belt sanders excel at removing large amounts of material quickly, whereas orbit sanders are less powerful, removing less material in the same amount of time but providing a more precise and polished finish.
Do your electric sanders come with a warranty?
Our range of electric sanders come with warranties that are provided directly through their respective brands. To see further information on the warranties of each brand, please see our warranty page.
