FAQs

What is the difference between DeWalt strimmers and brush cutters?

While both clear overgrown areas, DeWalt strimmers use a rapidly spinning nylon line to cut grass and light weeds, making them ideal for neatening lawn edges and borders. Brush cutters are more powerful machines that use heavy-duty metal blades to slice through thick brambles, dense undergrowth, and tough brushwood. Many of the high-powered 54V DeWalt models can alternate between a line head and a metal blade depending on your needs.

Can I use my existing DeWalt batteries in these strimmers?

Yes. DeWalt’s 18V XR strimmers are fully compatible with the 18V XR batteries you already use for your drills and saws. If you choose a 54V FlexVolt strimmer, it requires a 54V FlexVolt battery. The added benefit of investing in FlexVolt batteries is that they are backwards compatible and can be used to power all your 18V XR tools with vastly extended runtime.

What protective equipment should I wear when strimming?

Safety is paramount, as the high-speed rotation can easily flick up hidden stones and debris. You should always wear protective safety glasses or a full-face visor, sturdy work boots, and long trousers. For longer jobs or when using the more powerful 54V brush cutters, we also strongly recommend wearing ear defenders and gloves.
